The longest walk of my life!
I'm sat in my living room with my feet up, it's the day after the Lakeland 50 event, and I have that post event, tired, content and proud feeling. My body is heavy, my mind empowered and feet are slowing starting to forgive me…slowly.
So during the Easter holidays I was lucky enough to spend some time with my family. The children of the family to be exact. I am lucky enough to have lots of little ones around me and to help out in the holidays I looked after the kids for a few days.
On Saturday 22nd April I found myself in a carpark/field in Horton-in-Ribblesdale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park at 7.30am waiting to meet a group of crazy and amazing people called Team True Spirit. The car park was filling quickly as lots of other groups arrived to start their challenge of completing the 3 Yorkshire Peaks…. which is basically 24miles over 3 big bumps in god’s country to walk over and between until you get back to the carpark/field for a well-deserved brew and food and some grub!
Last month I delivered a workshop on mindfulness for a group of Huddersfield based GP managers at the John Smith Stadium. It wasn’t my usual gig…normally I don my bright coloured leggings and roll out my matt to deliver practical workshops teaching people how to breath and move their bodies…..but this time was different. Instead I left the house in a smart outfit with a bag filled with laptop, flip chart paper and pens (love abit of stationary) and my presentation on the wonderful effect that mindfulness can bring to help reduce stress and enhance wellbeing.
